On the way to the top,
This young man brings a fresh approach to country music. Although his style is unique, it is also reminiscent of the authenticity and originality brought to the stage by Marty Robbins, George Strait, and Conway Twitty.
Born and raised around Athens, Texas, like many young boys he begin an interest in school sports at an early age; participating in soccer and T-Ball at the age of five, and moving on to Dribbler's Basketball and Little League Baseball while in Elementary school. As he entered Jr. High and High School, he added track and cross country running to his activities while still retaining his interest in baseball and football.
While in school, he began to change the lyrics to songs he'd heard in order to tease his sisters. He also used his lyric-writing to help him to remember important things during high school.
For several years, Roland made his living through heavy construction work. He still keeps his hands in on this, although he now limits it to private clients to enable him the time he wants for his songwriting and singing. The writing began about six years ago. A year later, he went into the studio to record some of what he had written. Since that first visit to the studio, he and some friends gather on a weekly basis for some acoustic sessions. He has already had some performances in Austin at various clubs and locales around that area, and is now booking in the Dallas and eastern part of the state.
